Idaho remains relatively unpopulated compared to many other states. Some of her most notable features are geographic in nature. Craters of the Moon National Monument is unique for its volcanic formations, which draw volcano enthusiasts from far and wide. Hells Canyon National Recreation Area is characteristic for its deep river canyon, at one point deeper than the Grand Canyon. Snake River literally twists and turns through the canyon and the sides of the canyon walls reportedly expose some of the most ancient layers of rock.

Scenic Sun Valley is both community and world-class ski resort. As remote as Idaho may still be, Sun Valley is remarkable for its dense population of rich and famous. The ski area is one of the best in the U.S. Bald Mountain, one of the resort’s best peaks, is considered one of the best ski runs in the world.

The Shoshones were native to the region. At a later date, though, he was said to confess that the word was completely fictional.

A component ingredient in processed cheese—barrel cheese--is a remarkable economic industry in Idaho. The Glanbia Group owns one of the largest U.S. barrel cheese processing plants in Idaho. Technology giant Micron Technology is headquartered in the state and the fastest growth in the technology sector is happening in and around Boise. In fact, what was a primarily agricultural economy has now shifted its attention to semiconductors.

Idaho National Laboratory is located outside tiny Arco, Idaho. The laboratory is a key component in the government’s nuclear energy programs and nearby Arco receives its electrical power from the lab’s production.
